Field Advocates have the ability to meet the victim at the scene of the domestic violence incident and talk to them about resources, services and to help them fill out any legal paperwork like Restraining Orders on-site. Field Advocates are not law enforcement and instead exist as a mediator to help the victim understand their rights and resources to help them get safe. They have the ability to help victims fill out Emergency Restraining Orders and get them to a safe place, like a family or friend's home, the hospital or a domestic violence shelter. They meet the victim where they are and provide in-the-moment advocacy and hope.
